Eyestorm is the largest online retailer of limited-edition prints for a growing global audience. The ecommerce website enables artists to reach a wider market than would normally be achieved through traditional media. In order to generate more repeat visits, and to promote Eyestorm as the definitive educational portal within its sector, there was a requirement for special galleries to be designed, featuring recommended work available for purchase online. In order to satisfy the educational tastes of the target audiences, these galleries needed to explain how contemporary art works fit within a social and historical context. Gallery content needed to be easily content managed by non-technical research teams.
As an answer to the brief, FIFO designed and developed the Eyestorm galleries with an updateable template format that facilitated regular content updates and hence improved customer retention. In terms of interactivity, a unique navigation was created that enabled the user to personalise a "360 degree exploration" through the world of art. Educational content was integrated seamlessly with the existing ecommerce website - making art accessible to all for either simple viewing of for purchasing online. The use of video and sound enhanced the user experience within the galleries. A particularly special gallery with over 200 pages was created for world-reknowned artist David Hockney.
